Purchase book, sales books and bank statement at least be maintained so that Visiting officer can access your turnover. In case of bills of small amount, you can create single sale bill for all such small amount for a single day. Besides this, as per income tax act, if your turnover or income exceed the limit mentioned u/s 44AA i.e. maintenance of books of accounts, you have to maintain all the records of your business as per section 44AA. Therefore, maintenance of books of accounts will serve dual purpose.
No such guidelines are given in GST Act for unregistered person, but this is advisable to have at least above mentioned records available at your principal place of business.
